CRO Manager
Hamburg, HH
Apply for this job

A fast-growing German DTC health and nutrition brand is looking for a CRO Manager to build out and run their conversion optimization program from the ground up. Right now CRO is distributed across the eCommerce team without a dedicated owner.

This is the first dedicated CRO seat at the company. If you want to build something real, with full ownership and a team that actually listens to the data, this role is for you..

WHO THEY ARE

A founder-led German DTC health and nutrition brand selling meal replacement shakes, collagen, protein supplements, and probiotics. They started as an online shop and grew into one of Germany's fastest-growing health brands, with products available through their own subscription-first webshop and in major German retail chains. The brand is profitable, growing fast, and built around a product people genuinely love.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Hamburg. German language proficiency is required.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

  • Build the CRO function from scratch: You're the first dedicated hire for this role, which means the program, the habits, and the culture around experimentation are yours to shape.
  • Work closely with the eCommerce Director: You'll have a direct line to the person running growth, with real visibility and real input into what gets prioritized.
  • A product with genuine pull: You're not trying to squeeze conversions out of something people don't want. The product works and people come back. Your job is to remove friction and communicate value better.
  • Real cross-functional collaboration: Daily work with a senior developer, a UX designer, and the broader eCommerce team, with the team small enough that collaboration stays direct.
  • Room to grow with the program: As the function scales, there's potential to lead a small team or move deeper into analytics and growth experimentation.
  • A modern Hamburg office and a team that invests in people: Product allowance, team events and offsites, access to professional development resources, and a lean environment where your work has an impact from day one.

WHAT YOU’RE GETTING INTO

This role is focused on scaling a CRO program from a handful of tests a month to 20 to 25 per month, while improving the quality of every experiment along the way.

You will:

  • Own and evolve the CRO roadmap in Asana, prioritizing hypotheses by expected impact and implementation effort
  • Generate and document hypotheses grounded in GA4 analytics, Hotjar session recordings, Microsoft Clarity data, and qualitative input from customer surveys and reviews
  • Design experiments and brief the UX and development team clearly enough that tests go live without unnecessary back and forth
  • Configure tests in Dalton and Intelligems, with front-end implementation handled by the development team based on your briefs
  • Maintain an incredibly organized repository of all test results to create a library of winning funnel patterns
  • Improve subscription attach rate and LTV, not just first-order CVR, because the success metric here is revenue per customer
  • Contribute to European market expansion through funnel optimization and localized testing experiences
  • Deliver weekly and monthly performance reports in a way that makes sense to non-technical stakeholders

WHO YOU ARE

  • You have 3+ years in CRO or growth optimization, within a DTC ecommerce brand or a performance-focused agency
  • You have strong analytical skills and are comfortable working with GA4, Hotjar, and Microsoft Clarity on a daily basis
  • You know how to work with Shopify at a product level (development skills aren't required)
  • You're familiar with Intelligems or a comparable A/B testing tool, and can get up to speed on Dalton quickly
  • You have experience with subscription or replenishment business models and understand why LTV matters more than first-order conversion in that context
  • You bring genuine curiosity about customer behavior and back your hypotheses with data and clear reasoning
  • You're pragmatic with imperfect data and don't wait for perfect conditions before making a call
  • You're fluent in German and English, both are used day to day

Bonus points if you have:

  • Background in health, wellness, beauty, or supplements and an understanding of considered-purchase consumer behavior
  • Experience building a CRO program from an early stage, not just inheriting a mature one
