Our client, an Inc. 5000 firm, is a next-generation growth marketing engine built on a proprietary AI commerce layer and a relentless focus on measurable impact. They have driven billions in attributable revenue for top-tier DTC and e-commerce brands and are currently searching for the single most important operational leader to scale their core offering: the Managing Director of Paid Media.
This is not a management role; it is an Executive Media P&L ownership role. You will be responsible for the vision, strategy, and performance standards across an integrated channel ecosystem - from Meta to TikTok to Google - cementing the agency's position as a dominant force in digital growth.
This is a fully remote position supporting the EST time zone, open to candidates based in the US.
YOUR MISSION
Your mission is to act as the primary strategic and operational backbone for the Paid Media department. You will be responsible for elevating performance standards, driving innovation, and ensuring every media strategy translates directly into profitable, scalable P&L growth for high-growth DTC clients.
- Define the vision and strategic roadmap for the entire Paid Media practice.
- Oversee all media strategies (Meta, Google, TikTok, Snap, etc.) with a clear mandate to scale e-commerce and DTC brands through measurable, profitable performance.
- Refine and implement operational processes that unify creative, media, and retail efforts into one high-velocity, revenue-driving ecosystem.

WHAT YOU’RE GETTING INTO
Media Strategy & Client Growth
- Own media strategy across a diverse channel ecosystem (Meta, Google, TikTok, AppLovin, etc.), with deep expertise in Meta performance, creative strategy, and measurement.
- Build and scale client P&Ls, modeling pro forma revenue, margin, and contribution scenarios for DTC and omni-channel brands.
- Partner with data and analytics teams to implement and communicate insights from MMM/MTA and in-platform attribution models to clients and executives.
- Lead monthly executive reviews with client leadership, serve as the primary escalation point, and operate as the accountable owner of performance and client satisfaction.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and scale a best-in-class Paid Media Department, directly managing 10+ team members (and growing), including Directors, Strategists, and Managers.
- Establish operational frameworks, workflows, and training systems to standardize excellence and strong KPI accountability across all client accounts.
- Partner with Recruiting to hire elite media talent with a clear DTC and Meta-first mindset.
Financial & Operational Management
- Oversee department-wide budgets, staffing, and financial performance, ensuring sustainable margins and efficient resource allocation.
- Collaborate with the CEO to refine service models, improve margin, and reduce churn through operational excellence.
- Lead the creation of a unified dashboard that visualizes performance, health, and growth across all client accounts.
WHO YOU ARE
You are a media operator at heart who has built DTC growth machines from scratch. You thrive on the intersection of media strategy, creative, and P&L performance.
- 10+ years in paid media and growth marketing, with 7+ years in DTC/eCommerce.
- A proven Meta expert who has personally managed $10M+ monthly spend and scaled high-growth e-commerce brands (Beauty, CPG, Skincare, etc.).
- Mastery of the DTC P&L, contribution margin, and how factors like traffic, CPM, CVR, and AOV interact to drive growth.
- Capable of both designing a complex growth playbook and ensuring execution is flawless down to the platform level.
- Prior experience leading and scaling high-performing media teams within top-tier agencies or internal brand media functions.
- High EQ, low ego leader who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven, client-facing environment.
Bonus points if you have:
- Expertise with Enterprise brands and media budgets in the high-8-figure to 9-figure range.
- Deep understanding of the latest Meta platform updates and attribution models (e.g., you can explain "Andromeda").
- Established a strong professional network within the New York digital performance ecosystem (this role is New York, NY-based).
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- First 30 Days: You have fully audited the department’s service offerings alongside the CEO, established alignment across the client portfolio, and set initial KPIs for your leadership team.
- First 60 Days: You have implemented key operational processes to improve margin and scalability, taken ownership of the most critical client accounts, and begun interviewing elite talent to scale the team.
- First 90 Days: You have successfully elevated the department's performance standards, built a unified reporting dashboard, and delivered a clear strategic roadmap for the next 12 months, setting the foundation for significant, profitable growth.
