Are you a senior payments operator who knows how to maximize authorization rates, reduce chargebacks, and build a scalable multi-PSP payments stack?


We’re hiring a Head of Payments to take full ownership of a complex, high-volume payments ecosystem across fast-scaling digital subscriptions and DTC eCommerce. You’ll build a resilient, global payment infrastructure that maximizes revenue, protects processing relationships, and supports aggressive growth from $100M → $200M+.

YOUR MISSION

Own and optimize the entire payment processing stack - across both digital subscriptions and physical product subscriptions - so the company can scale from $100M → $200M+ without processor issues or revenue leakage.

WHAT YOU’RE GETTING INTO

Build and scale a global payment ecosystem

  • Own all PSPs, gateways, MIDs, and ISO relationships
  • Design and optimize multi-PSP routing across geos, card types, and BINs
  • Build redundancy and failover to ensure uninterrupted processing


Drive payment performance

  • Monitor and improve authorization rates across US + international markets
  • Maximize rebill success for both digital and physical subscription products
  • Maintain safe chargeback ratios (<0.5%) and VAMP performance (<2.1%)


Support international expansion

  • Evaluate and secure local acquiring solutions in priority geos (EU, UK, etc.)
  • Enable local payment methods where needed (Apple Pay, Google Pay, regional options)
  • Set the foundation for scaling global digital and physical subscription revenue


Own fraud, chargebacks & risk communication

  • Oversee chargeback tools (e.g., CB911) and manage pre-dispute workflows
  • Collaborate with and potentially restructure the existing chargeback mitigation team
  • Act as the point of contact for banks and PSPs during risk reviews or ratio fluctuations


Partner with cross-functional teams

  • Work with product and engineering on checkout performance and billing logic
  • Collaborate with growth on funnel and payment behavior insights
  • Align with finance on fees, settlements, caps, and forecasting


Create clarity, visibility, and real-time monitoring

  • Implement dashboards and alerting for auth rates, rebills, chargebacks, PSP distribution
  • Use data to identify issues early and execute fast corrective action
  • Recommend long-term improvements in orchestration, tokenization, fraud prevention, and authorization science


WHO YOU ARE

  • Understand the payment landscape deeply - PSPs, acquiring banks, gateways, fraud tools, chargebacks, and compliance
  • Have strong experience in recurring billing for digital subscriptions
  • Be hands-on with high-volume, multi-PSP, multi-MID payment setups
  • Be confident speaking with U.S. banks, ISOs, and PSP risk teams
  • Use data fluently to drive decisions, identify patterns, and uncover problems
  • Take ownership, move fast, and communicate clearly - especially under pressure
  • Manage senior-level external relationships with professionalism and confidence
