Finance Operations Manager
Apply for this job

We're looking for a dedicated Finance Operations Manager to own the daily, weekly, and quarterly metrics that drive every decision. This isn't a CFO role focused on fundraising, neither a bookkeeper position. This is for the specialized financial engineer who can integrate systems, optimize multi-factory cost structures, and own the integrity of cash and unit economics.

If you are a high-autonomy, low-ego operator who thrives under pressure and views financial modeling as a daily tool for precise action, not just projection, this is your opportunity to build the foundation for a 9-figure scale.

YOUR MISSION

Your mission is to be the dedicated financial engine responsible for operational precision and control. You will not present decks or manage long-cycle FP&A. You will execute, analyze, and systematize the core financial mechanics that guarantee profitable DTC scaling. You own the technical integrity of all financial systems, the daily cash position, and the optimization of cost structures across the entire supply chain. This is a daily execution role, not a planning or presentation role.

WHO THEY ARE

This is an aggressive, high-growth DTC (Direct-to-Consumer) brand operating in the Wellness and Musical Instrument Industry. The company's core product is a tool for stress relief, mindfulness, meditation, and creative expression. The brand emphasizes healing resonance, ease of use (no musical experience needed), and creating moments of calmness and connection for families and individuals.

This is a full‑time, remote contractor role supporting a Team on the CET timezone.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

  • Ownership: Take full, daily ownership of the most critical levers of the business: unit economics, cash conversion, and liquidity monitoring.
  • Architect of Profit: Directly influence and optimize margins by running deep cost analyses across three distinct manufacturing partners.
  • Build the Machine: You won't inherit broken processes; you'll build and implement the integrated systems and reporting that will enable scale and operational efficiency.
  • High-Leverage Visibility: Work directly with leadership, including the founder, on core financial risks (liquidity) and legal structure (tax/legal).
  • Remote & Results-Focused: Join a performance-driven team that values output and accountability, offering the flexibility of a remote contractor role.

WHAT YOU’RE GETTING INTO

This role requires extreme operational scrappiness and precision. Your focus is on technical execution:

  • Unit Economics Control: Owns unit economics daily. Deliver the weekly unit economics delta report showing performance vs. baseline.
  • Cash Flow & Liquidity: Owns liquidity monitoring (our biggest financial risk). Understand the DTC cash flow dynamics and how liquidity directly affects media buying velocity and capacity.
  • Cash Conversion Cycle (CCC): Owns cash conversion cycle and provides a CCC breakdown by funnel weekly.
  • Inventory Reconciliation: Reconciles inventory daily with the Operations lead, ensuring perfect data integrity for costing.
  • Cost Analysis: Runs cost analyses (especially with 3 factories). Develop MOQ cost variance models and factory cost scenario modeling to support negotiation.
  • Cost Baselines: Compares cost baselines quarterly to drive strategic negotiations, not just tracking historical data.
  • System Integration & Controls: Integrates with new checkout flows (Checkout Champ, PayPal, 3rd party processors). Conduct payment processor reconciliation and payment gateway error audits daily.
  • Tax & Legal Structure Support: Works with the Legal lead on tax/legal structures, operationalizing the financial controls needed for compliance.
  • Work Output Examples: Your deliverables are highly technical and include: daily liquidity snapshot, payment gateway error audits, and monthly inventory valuation reconciliation models.

WHO YOU ARE

  • The Decisive Operator: At least 3+ years of hands-on financial operations experience in high-growth e-commerce/DTC. This is an operational role; you must be comfortable making decisions and integrating systems.
  • Technical Financial Engineer: Must be highly proficient in SQL / advanced Excel and financial modeling precision. You must be able to manipulate, reconcile, and integrate financial data pipes.
  • DTC Cash Flow Expert: Deeply understands the DTC cash flow dynamics, including the impact of ad spend velocity and how fulfillment speed changes unit economics. Corporate FP&A candidates will drown in our speed.
  • Systems Integrator: Proven experience with system integration and operational scrappiness to force disparate e-commerce systems (checkout, 3PL, ERP) to talk to one another.
  • Strategic Scrappiness: Skilled at developing MOQ cost variance models and factory cost scenario modeling to support negotiation and operational decision-making.
  • Extreme Ownership & Autonomy: High autonomy, low ego, and zero excuses are non-negotiable.
  • Pressure-Tolerant: Comfortable operating under pressure and working directly with a founder who moves fast.
  • Decisive: You execute quickly and own the outcome. You do not wait for the structure to be handed to you.

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE

  • Expertise with a major ERP system (Quickbooks, NetSuite, SAP, etc.) implementation/integration in an inventory-heavy environment.
  • Experience with global tax and compliance structures
  • A background in managing finance for physical goods/inventory-heavy businesses at 8-figure scale.

This role is NOT:

  • Bookkeeping
  • Controller function
  • Long-cycle FP&A
  • Reporting-only
  • CFO-lite
  • A job for people who need structure handed to them

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • 30 Days: You've fully audited the existing payment processor reconciliation process, implemented the daily liquidity snapshot, and delivered the first MOQ cost variance model for the three factories.
  • 60 Days: You have streamlined the daily inventory reconciliation process, completed the first payment gateway error audit, and reduced a major bottleneck in the cash conversion cycle.
  • 90 Days: You have fully operationalized the weekly unit economics delta report using clean data, successfully integrated financial data from a new checkout flow, and are operating autonomously with minimal founder input.

COMPENSATION STRUCTURE

  • Compensation: Competitive Base Salary + Performance-Based Bonus/Profit Share.
  • Model: Compensation is tied directly to margin improvement, COGS reduction, and cash conversion cycle acceleration. They reward operators for tangible outcomes.
