Creative Strategist
Apply for this job

A fast-growing DTC hardware brand is rebuilding its entire creative engine from the ground up. Revenue is up close to 8x over the past year, and the team is now splitting into dedicated creative pods, each running its own tests, its own editors, and its own numbers to hit.

This Creative Strategist role will lead their first internal pods. You'll dig into a very specific audience (homeowners 45+), turn that research into scripts, briefs, and concepts across TOF, MOF, and BOF.

You'll own the pod, brief the team, read the numbers daily, and adjust fast.

WHO THEY ARE

This is a fast-growing DTC ecommerce brand building compact, high-power tools for homeowners who are tired of choosing between cheap, disappointing gear and bulky legacy equipment built for tradespeople. Every product is custom-engineered and put through a simple filter before launch: if it's not clearly the best way to do that job, it doesn't ship.

This is a fully remote, full-time contractor role.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU

  • Ownership: Lead your own creative pod, editors, designer, and UGC manager included
  • Growth path: Senior Creative Strategist to Creative Lead, with Head of Performance down the line
  • Direct access: Strategy calls straight with founders and the Creative Lead, no layers
  • Performance bonuses: Tied to the spend and ROAS your winners produce
  • Flexible hours and fully remote: Work when it works, as long as the pod delivers

WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO

  • Own a full creative pod (editors, designer, UGC manager) and carry full accountability for what it ships and how it performs
  • Dig deep into a specific 45+ homeowner audience, pull real language and insights, and turn them into TOF, MOF, and BOF concepts that actually move numbers
  • Write high-converting Copy for VSLs, advertorials, and Listicles.
  • Write clear, specific briefs across video, static, and UGC that an editor or creator can execute without needing to guess
  • Review first cuts, give precise and fast feedback, and keep quality and pace high across the pod
  • Read performance data daily, write learnings, and feed them straight back into the next round of briefs
  • Run standups when performance dips, figure out why fast, and adjust the plan
  • Join strategy calls with founders, the Creative Lead, and the Head of Performance to align on angles, funnels, and testing priorities
  • Report weekly on batches launched, winners, hit rate, and what's being tested next
  • Build cold, top-of-funnel storytelling from the ground up, since the current library leans heavily BOF and review-style

WHO YOU ARE

  • You've got 5+ years of experience in direct-response creative strategy for DTC eCommerce brands, ideally at a senior level
  • You've built and scaled ad concepts to $100k+ in spend, and know what that kind of performance actually demands
  • You have hands-on Meta ads experience, and you're comfortable enough with CAC, ROAS, hook rate, and CTR to know if a creative is really winning or just looking good
  • You write hooks, scripts, and CTAs tailored to specific awareness stages, not generic templates
  • You have a sharp eye for edit and design quality, and can give feedback precise enough that a first revision is usually the last one
  • You've managed or led editors, designers, or UGC creators inside a fast-moving, performance-driven team
  • You're fluent with AI tools for research, ideation, and first drafts, and comfortable working inside a structured task system like ClickUp

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • 30 days: You're fully onboarded on the product, the audience, and the pod system. You've built relationships with your editors and designer, mapped their strengths, and you're already shipping your first test batches by week two. You've found some early winners or clear near misses, and can explain why.
  • 60 days: Your pod is running with consistent volume and quality. Several live winners, some becoming top spenders, and you're coaching your editors and designer to tighten the hit rate further. You're writing UGC scripts alongside the UGC manager and deep into planning for the next major sales push.
  • 90 days: You're operating at a de facto Creative Lead level for your pod, with founders fully out of day-to-day execution. Your hit rate is trending toward 15 to 20 percent, and you own strategy, execution, and reporting end to end.
