If you see a complex system and immediately know how to make it run 10x faster, cleaner, and more predictably, this Operations Manager role is your next step.
This scale-up client is not looking for a task manager; they require a high-leverage integrator who can assume full ownership of their entire operational backbone. From supplier relationships to customer delivery, the goal is to free up the Founder to concentrate solely on aggressive, market-defining growth.
THE BRAND
Our client is one of the UK's fastest-growing D2C wellness brands in the beauty/supplement space, serving a highly engaged 35+ female audience with over 50,000 active subscribers. Their culture is founder-led, lean, data-driven, and obsessed with iteration.
With rapid scaling underway in the UK/EU, their operational focus is now entirely on preparing for a major US launch in 2026. This is a chance for a high-potential operator to be fully immersed in an ambitious, 'do-big-things' company.
YOUR MISSION
As Operations Manager, you will be the driving force behind the brand's scale. The successful candidate will assume ownership of the entire back-end operational engine, managing inventory, optimizing logistics, and ensuring the smooth function of the remote Creative, Customer Support, and Marketing teams. This is a mandate to achieve operational excellence: eliminating bottlenecks, ruthlessly driving down COGS, and architecting the systems (SOPs, tools, processes) that enable them to profitably execute the pivotal US market expansion.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
-
Strategic independence: This is a key takeover role, reporting directly to the Founder. You are given full autonomy to design and implement the systems you know are necessary to scale.
-
Rapid impact & ownership: Your work directly impacts margin and cash flow. You’ll manage the day-to-day operations across multiple departments, making you one of the most central and high-leverage people in the company.
-
Flexible setup: The team is from all over, and you’re able to pick and choose your working hours and where you work from. They have an office in London that you’re welcome to visit, but hybrid is not mandatory
-
Investment in You: You will have access to external training, courses, and certifications that you need to master your craft.
-
Growth: Clear path for growth to Head of Operations as the company scales.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
This role requires a rare blend of systems design, vendor management, and remote team leadership.
- Lead daily/weekly checks on stock levels, manage supplier communication, and maintain rigorous forecasting models to ensure zero stock-outs and optimal cash flow efficiency.
- Own the management, negotiation, and contract execution with all 3PLs and shipping agents across the UK/EU (and soon, the US) to ensure best-in-class fulfillment performance and continually reduce fulfillment costs.
- Manage the efficiency and resourcing of the remote Customer Support team, monitoring key metrics and planning weekly training to improve performance and manage hiring needs.
- Maintain smooth daily operations across remote Creative and Marketing teams, proactively clearing blockers and ensuring that operational readiness supports marketing spend.
- Constantly audit and update internal SOPs across all operational areas. Your ability to write clear, detailed SOPs that are easy for everyone to follow is a non-negotiable cornerstone of this role.
- Take over the hiring and onboarding processes for operational and customer support staff as the business continues to scale.
WHO YOU ARE
- You are a self-starter who doesn't need to be hand-held. You grasp ideas quickly, strategically manage your own roadmap, and know how to troubleshoot and find innovative solutions to clear blockers on your own.
- 3+ years managing Backend operations for a D2C/e-commerce brand, ideally with subscription or health/wellness brand experience.
- Proven track record of building scalable processes and SOPs, with exceptional mastery in Google Sheets and Google Docs for data analysis and documentation.
- Demonstrated experience managing both internal teams (Customer Support, Creative, etc.) and external 3rd party relationships (suppliers, 3PLs, shipping agents).
- Proficient in Shopify, Google Sheets, Asana, and a customer email helpdesk tool (like Richpanel). You are technically savvy and can quickly pick up new platforms (e.g., Notion).
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE
- Direct operational experience launching a D2C brand into the US market.
- Experience with advanced Shopify apps for subscriptions or inventory management.
